Boy, have we been partying lately.
Birthday partying, that is. The kind with cake and prezzies and mayhem!
We go to these GORGEOUS parties for our friends' children and spend hours chasing Rio about as she tries to escape. (mental note: harness) It's so much fun but it would be nice to have some adult conversation sometimes, too.
Maybe when she's in university.
*cough* Or boarding school...

We're in no rush to get there.

...aaaand we're back!
Rio and I have been back in Mallorca for a month now. I should have posted sooner. And even now I'm just writing to tell all my fans out there (har har) that I'm going to start posting regularly asap. Truth be told, I haven't been taking a lot of photos because it's hard to chase Rio and hold a camera at the same time and also, it's been so damn hot, I haven't felt like doing much of anything.
But I love it here. My heart is here.
More to come.

Today we went to the playground in Costitx for the first time and Rio loved it. She was very serious about it, very concentrated, as she is when she does something she's never done before and she didn't stop moving for a second. All business!
The weather was fine and breezy. We are absolutely at home here.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm back.
Alaró was ok and all but we were yearning for space - the outdoor kind. Ask and you shall receive: we found a great little house with a big garden just outside the village of Costitx (co-steech) in the centre of the island. And that's why I haven't been posting. I just wanted to get moving and get moved. We have a month of overlap between the two places so bit by bit we're shuffling our belongings to our new house.
Today was balmy and summery so we took a quick drive up to Alcúdia (again, O loves it there) to get some rays reflected off the sea. And what a gorgeous seaside day it was, friends. I wish you had been there with us.
I apologize for the lack of interesting photos. Now that the fine weather is back (we had a nasty spell), I'll be much snaphappier.
Some lingering spring blossoms near our house
The view of Costitx from our road
Peeking out from our front gate (goats live across the street! Photos to come!)
Rio by the pool on a grey day. Brrr.
Now this is more like it. Look at the people lying on the beach in the background - it was that warm! -->

Here's where it gets messy:
I'm a stay-at-home-mom now. Who woulda thunk it? I start work at around 8am and punch out between 8 and 9pm. Kids go to bed later here (a typical family dinner isn't until 10pm) and O doesn't usually come home before 7 so we pushed Rio's bedtime back an hour. She gets to see her daddy, which is nice, but I find I go to bed later because I need time to unwind once she's asleep. Oh well.
Friends, this is what Rio has been up to the past few days:
Post-Bathtime Photo Shoot
(Note Hermès towel - merci Auntie Sana!)
Our new friends Fiona and Ismene at the English playgroup on Tuesdays in Palma. (I have a friend!!!)
Afterward we had lunch at Fiona's with her Norwegian friend Ida and her son Sapp. (I have two friends!!!)
And of course, my daily constitutional. The weather has been gorgeous, especially today. I was wearing a sweatshirt and was boiling in the sun. The air is full of birdsong and the honey smell of almond blossoms. I truly love it here. If they'll have us, I'll stay until the end of my days.
You know it's spring when the oranges drop off the trees. I wonder if lemons do, too.
There is a breathtaking grove of Holm oaks just down the road from our house. I think it's actually on land owned by Camper, at their compound Son Forteza. They make me dream...
A bedtime story. Speaking of bedtime, my pillow is calling me. xo

Blossoms and Bare Feet
I haven't posted in a week or so and I was all set tonight to write out what I've been up to but then I got to chatting online with my bff and didn't see the time fly by. Next thing I know it's 11:30pm - and for this Mama, that's way past my bedtime.
So I'll just put up a few photos from the last couple of days so you can see how lovely it's been here in Mallorca and so you don't think I've abandoned my blog!
